門度沙中彈躺在地上，絕望地看著蓋唐納神父，
神父拿著十字架緩緩地走向西班牙軍隊，
他的眼中不見恐懼，只有坦然面對死亡的堅毅。

1986年坎城影展金棕櫚獎最佳影片「教會」，
描寫十八世紀西班牙和葡萄牙在南美洲的海外殖民政策，
錯綜複雜的政治和教會版圖的轉移，
當地的原住民和教會是權力鬥爭下的犧牲者，
本片對於當時掌權的天主教會面對殖民的態度提出了嚴厲的批判。

從事販賣奴隸的門度沙因妒忌殺了自己所愛的胞弟，
後悔不已的他不斷自虐，了無生意，只求一死，
最後追隨著蓋神父來到他曾捕獵土著的地方進行贖罪之旅，
在逐漸丟棄俗世、罪惡，相信獲得赦免之後，門度沙成為了實習神父，
在政治與教會權力誨暗不明的情況下，門度沙堅持已見，
挺身而出為正義說話，卻不得在現實中低頭，為自己的言行提出道歉，
當小孩拿劍給他，他知道自己將以不一樣的方式來面對無可避免的侵犯。

光 照 在 黑 暗 裡 ， 黑 暗 卻 不 接 受 光 。(約一:5)

The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.

(John Chapter1 Verse5)

電影結束時，電影出現了這句話，黑暗與光勢必會有很大的爭戰，
這也預表了當末世的時候，基督徒所要面對的屬靈爭戰。



電影配樂由最近來台的大師 Ennio Morricone 操刀，
當中的 Gabriel、s Oboe 更是動人心弦，是一部配樂聲譽高過影片的作品。
Sarah Brightman花了兩年寫信給大師，他才首肯讓這段旋律填詞，
也就是我們常聽到的名曲 Nella fantasia (幻夢之境)，
這首歌有很多人唱過，我最欣賞Paul Potts 和 Katherine Jenkins的版本，
印象中Bocelli唱得也很好，只可惜Youtube沒有。
